Country Sports
We are ideally placed to offer a wide range of sports at Townleigh and can cater for both groups and individuals, novices or the more experienced.
Pheasant Shooting
Townleigh Estate has shooting rights over 600 acres. We offer approximately 15 pheasant shoot days of 200-300 birds on the Devon/ Cornwall border.
The estate generally shoots on the Saturday and offers a full weekend hospitality package starting with supper on Friday night and ending with breakfast on Sunday.
Guns are encouraged to bring partners and for those who don't wish to go shooting alternative trips can be arranged.
Well behaved dogs are welcome and they sleep either in car or boot room.
Clay Pigeon Shooting
We offer simulated game days for parties up to 20 guns on 4 drives - these are undertaken in wooded valleys. Alternatively we offer skeet shooting with practice rounds and competitive shooting to finish. Full safety briefing is always included.
Stalking
The keeper at Townleigh has a keen interest in conservation and has plenty of shoot experience, as well as land and animal management. By prior arrangement you can arrange to stalk the red and roe deer on the estate with him.
Fishing
For a perfect relaxing afternoon or two, we offer around 2 miles of private double bank fishing along the Thrushall, a spate river which flows through the estate.
In the Thrushall, a tributary of the Tamar, you can expect wild fishing with the prospect of catching mainly brown or possibly a sea trout. If you're lucky you might glimpse a salmon which have been known to swim this far upriver.
Less challenging is fly fishing on the 3 quarry lakes.
We are situated about half an hour from the north coast, where it is also possible to arrange bass fishing expeditions or beach fishing.
Alternatively a couple of miles away, with 730 acres of water, Roadford Lake is the largest inland water in the South West. Set in picturesque surroundings, Roadford is another ideal venue for trout fishing. Anglers can enjoy their sport from bank or boat.
Golf
Townleigh is situated close to a number of different courses from links to manicured and to suit all standards. We are able to offer ideal base for your golf holiday.
Golf packages for up to 16 people staying on the estate can be arranged. From just arranging the tee time to organising transport to and from the course. Dinner can be served at Townleigh or at local restaurants.
We'd be happy to tailor a package to suit your requirements.
Typical courses within 40 minutes of Townleigh are St Mellion, Lauceston, Tavistock, Royal North Devon, St Enedoc and Trevose.
